Internship with Actors Theatre of Louisville’s Education Department

Join Team Education at Actors Theatre as an Education Intern/Teaching Artist and help create outstanding artistic and learning experiences for young people. Serve as artistic/education ambassador throughout our region’s school systems and youth service organizations, as well as community, treatment and placement centers. Conduct classroom workshops and lead playwriting residencies. Develop lesson plans, research and write study guides, and collaborate interdepartmentally at Actors Theatre, while contributing to the Humana Festival College Days Weekend and the New Voices Young Playwrights Festival. Members of traditionally underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates have a passion for sharing the power of live theatre with young people and a strong sense of collaboration. Formal classroom teaching experience not required, but previous experience working with young people and a reliable car are musts.

Application Deadline: March 1, 2011 for 2011-2012 Season. We will also accept applications and conduct interviews at the College Days weekend March 18 - 20, 2011. Applicants will be informed of our decision no later than April 1st, 2011. Summer: No deadline.
Additional Materials Required: Please include both a brief writing sample (essay or article) and a brief lesson plan with your complete Internship application.

Compensation: The internship includes a small grant as well a teaching artist payment. Interns are also reimbursed for mileage. Contact srahe@actorstheatre.orgfor details.
