Teaching Artist School Year Internship at the Omaha Theater Company

The Omaha Theater Company is looking to hire one more recent college graduate for its teaching artist internship program. This program is geared toward students who want to enter educational theater (such as becoming a high school drama teacher, become a professional teaching artist, enter graduate school in TYA, or working for a professional children’s theater) as a career. These students work full time during the 9 month school year (August 11-May 18). The responsibilities for these interns can include assisting with acting, creative drama and musical theater classes, working with after school programs with “at-risk” middle school students, writing plays for young performers, helping with study guide lay-outs and content , acting in one or two mainstage productions, co-directing a teen theater production, performing in a Theater in Education touring play, and leading workshops with school groups. Interns are paid a weekly stipend and are provided free housing.

Interested applicants should send a letter of interest, a sample lesson plan, and a current resume (with education, experience working with kids, and theater experience) to Brian Guehring, Education Director, briang@rosetheter.org.

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply by April 29th, 2011.
